PbBC to file reference against LHC CJ
LAHORE: The Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) will file a reference against the LHC chief justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry for allegedly committing corruption, nepotism, intervening in the lawyer’s affairs, inability of fulfilling his duties and revengeful activities against judges and lawyers who were favouring the CJP, PbBC vice chairman Tariq Javed Warraich told a press conference on Wednesday. He said a seven-member committee would prepare and file the reference before the Supreme Judicial Council and the president of Pakistan. He said the reference would be complete in two weeks after it collects enough evidence against the LHC CJ. The committee consists of the PbBC vice chairman, PbBC Executive Committee chairman Arbab Ahmad Syed, member of the Pakistan Bar Council Kazim Khan, three former presidents of the LHCBA Muhammad Kazim Khan, Hafiz Abdul Rahman Ansari, Ahmad Awais, Justice (r) Fakharun Nisa Khokhar and advocate Raja Zulqarnain. staff report
